Convert HEIC to BMP — Uncompressed Format
BMP is an uncompressed format that preserves every pixel of your image. Free, private, and instant — no upload required.
Your files never leave your device. All conversion happens in your browser.
Convert HEIC to BMP — fully uncompressed
BMP (bitmap) stores every pixel without compression, giving you a raw, uncompressed copy of your image. Converting HEIC to BMP is useful when older Windows software, certain editing tools, or legacy systems specifically require BMP input, or when you want an image with zero compression artefacts. Drop your HEIC files above and download BMP files directly, with no upload and no signup.
Because BMP keeps all image data intact, the files are large — but that's exactly the point when maximum fidelity or compatibility with old programs matters more than file size. The HEIC to BMP conversion runs locally in your browser, so even big bitmaps stay on your device.
When BMP makes sense — and when it doesn't
Choose BMP only when a specific application demands it or you need an uncompressed working file. For everyday use — sharing, uploading, storing or emailing photos — BMP files are impractically large.
For those cases convert HEIC to JPG for the smallest universal file, PNG for lossless quality with a reasonable size, or WebP for the web. This free tool converts HEIC to BMP, JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and PDF, so you always have the right format on hand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this HEIC converter safe to use?
Yes, absolutely. All file conversion happens directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to any server — your photos remain 100% private on your device.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on Apple iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. It stores photos at roughly half the size of JPEG at the same quality, but many devices and apps can't open it — which is why converting to JPG or PNG is so useful.
How do I open HEIC files on Windows or Android?
Windows and most Android devices can't open HEIC files natively. The fastest fix is to convert the HEIC file to JPG right here — no software to install. On Windows 10/11 you can alternatively install the HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store.
Why are my iPhone photos saved as HEIC?
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC by default to save storage space. If you prefer JPEG, go to Settings > Camera > Formats and choose 'Most Compatible' — or simply convert your existing HEIC photos here whenever you need them.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no strict file size limit since all processing happens in your browser. Very large files (over 50MB) may just take a little longer to convert depending on your device.
Do I need to create an account?
No. OpenMyHEIC is completely free with no registration, no account, and no limit on the number of conversions.
